PADI IDC, Are You Ready For The Next Step?

How do you know if you should take that next step and do your PADI IDC?

So you’ve just completed your PADI Divemaster course, it’s achieved, it’s done and dusted. But how do you know if you should take that next step and do your PADI IDC?

After having the time of your life becoming a PADI Divemaster, diving everyday, assisting with courses, and spending every minute in the deep blue sea, you are feeling you are ready to take your diving to another level. But what’s next? Where to go from here? The idea of going on to do your IDC is a great option to consider.

What is the IDC?

IDC stands for Instructor Development Course. Its’ name means exactly that, an instructor DEVELOPMENT course. You are not expected to turn up on day one knowing everything. Neither are you expected to turn up on day one already a great teacher. You are not even expected to turn up on day one feeling ready(I know I didn’t)! These are things you DEVELOP throughout the two week course. Even though a lot is crammed into this short space of time by the time you reach your IE (Instructor Examinations) you are highly confident and more than prepared.

I did my IDC at Davy Jones Locker which is on Koh Tao, Thailand. Davy Jones Locker is a PADI 5 star Career Development Centre. Its course directors Guy Corsellis and Peter Nieuwhof are PADI Platinum rated course directors. Guy and Pete are not only fun, friendly and easy to get along with, they also give personal attention to every student, fulfilling their individual needs. Throughout the course you go from feeling clueless to confident. You will be more than prepared to face the IE and go on to conquer the diving world.

Employment Opportunities

So what’s next? Where can I go from here? Living on a tropical island in Thailand? Perhaps next South America, the Caribbean, Egypt, Mexico or maybe Fiji? A diving instructor course has opened up new opportunity’s to me completely and I now have the whole world at my fingertips! (Underwater world that is!)

So how do you know if you should take that next step and do your PADI IDC? You don’t! You won’t know until you do it. So go on, I dare you, take the plunge. You won’t regret a thing!
