Warm, wet and . . . . . Whale Sharks!

By djl team, 6 June, 2007, No Comment

This time we got to double dive with a Whale Shark during two dives at the Southwest Pinnacles.

Alex was diving with certified divers Brad, Note, Kelsey & Michelle (down from Bangkok) – the guys managed to capture some great photos and movie footage of the 4 – 5 metre long whale shark. Incidentally it was Brad’s birthday – not a bad way to spend your morning!

Matt’s luck continues – he was also on the boat, making the last two dive of an Open Water course, (with ski instructors Ryan & Mimi). This means that Ryan and Mimi have had a whale shark accompany them for 50% of their dives – I wonder if they can maintain that record!:)

‘Blessed’ are the divers!

DJL Diving was paid a visit by three Buddhist monks from the Wat near Mae Haad.

The monks performed a ceremony to bless the new DJL Dive shop on Sairee Beach - the ritual is intended to bring prosperity and success to the new shop.
The event was well attended by elder members of several Koh Tao families.

Opening with a long chanting session, all crowded into the DJL shop and sat before the monks to receive their blessing.

Afterwards there was free food, at which point several random farangs dropped in ;)

Monks come to bless DJL Divingmay the blessing bring many divers!
