Combine BSAC Sports Diver Training with a Sailing Liveaboard Expedition throughout the Gulf of Thailand!

BSAC Centre of Excellence No 484 (Davy Jones’ Locker Co Ltd)

On June 18th we’re departing for a 4 day / 4 night sailing liveaboard throughout the Chumphon Marine Reserve, Thailand. We’ll be diving on some recently discovered shallow wrecks plus checking out the islands & pinnacles throughout the marine park.

We’re offering the opportunity to combine the BSAC Sports Diver course with this exciting expedition. Get trained to dive to 35 metres, learning more rescue skills, and expand your diving knowledge and experience. Enjoy a stunning sailing liveaboard and dive some great wrecks & beautiful corals.

How it works:

We’ll conduct the first training portion of the course around Koh Tao, getting you comfortable in shallow water.

Once your skills are polished, we’ll depart on sailing liveaboard Sampai Jumpa for a four day / four night liveaboard. You’ll get some great diving exprience and witness some interesting wrecks. Tasty Thai & European food and comfortable cabins.

What do we expect from the Diving?

Chumphon Marine Reserve is much less dived than other areas of Thailand. During the entire expedition we won’t see any other dive vessels. Max depth will be about 35 metres, visibility should be good and water temperature will be around 30C. In terms of marine life expect to see a mix of corals – hard table, lobe and pore species, plus lots of deeper soft corals, sea whips and fans. There are many green and hawksbill turtles, masses of reef fish, sometimes squid and octopus plus many pelagic species. The two wrecks we will dive will be the ‘Dumb Dumb Maru’ & ‘Inverted Wreck’. Both were discovered in late 2006 and form interestig dives for different reason. The Dumb Dumb Maru has a nice penetration at the stern, and much of the superstructure remains intact to explore. The deeper Inverted Wreck is rich in marine life, and shows some great coral formations that you don’t find in shallower water.
